Toxicity…

This week was so busy in our unit. Everyone is running around and all that stuff. So many patients were admitted for surgical operation whether elective or not. I think it's primarily because they're after the Halloween or the week long vacation. Maybe after hospitalization and after that vacation they have already recovered from their illness to go back again for their job or school. Last year also was like this, everyone was busy that you can't even talk to someone or eat our food during meal time. Patients at that time, most of them had orthopedic cases and at old age. This kind of surgeries last long in the hospital especially that they're elderly wherein you have to wait for their recovery to walk or continuous rehabilitation before they go out of the hospital which is very much tiring for us nurses. I mean you have to help the patient do his toileting or help do other stuffs that require assistance, etc.

Most of the pts this year have urology or neurology cases. These were the patients that underwent surgeries pertaining to their urinary system and perception. This kind of patients also requires most of our attentions especially after the surgery and a day or two, after that it's not as busy at all. Most of the problems of urology cases are that small amount or no urine at all is coming out from their foley catheter and in reddish color which pertains to blood. It maybe due to many different reasons, maybe it's clogged or something and we managed this by flushing, hydration and putting cyctoclysis and also with the help of some medicines.

We nurses categorize our patient's needs and the first thing that comes to our minds when it comes to patients is safety. No matter how busy we are or how many patients will be admitted, still we managed to be focus in everything we do just to deliver the very best kind of healthcare that we may give to our clients to help them recover for whatever reasons they come to hospital.
